Transitioning back to the world we once knew. Or is it a whole new world?
Well, that escalated quickly….
Yikes. It’s been a few months of some crazy stuff. I don’t know about you, but I feel like everyone’s world went from hey we may have to think about working from home to OMG KITTENS WE HAVE TO STAY HOME AND NOW YOU HAVE TO WORK FROM HOME AND ALL THOSE THINGS YOU WERE PLANNING ARE NOW ON HOLD! AHHHHH! TOILET PAPER. HAND SANITIZER. CLOROX WIPES. WINE! WE HAVE TO OPEN NOW. MASKS. ZOOM. MORE WINE. I CAN’T BE AT HOME!!!!
And Yes. I did mean to yell. For us, it came fast and furiously. On one of the first Monday mornings of all this starting, I found out I had been exposed to Covid-19 so I quickly called my husband who was on his way to work. He quickly turned around and came back home. And that started it all for us. Thankfully, we are all good. We dodged the virus for now and hopefully will continue to do so. I hope you are well too.
So, as we have been figuring out this new world we are living in, I have been trying to figure out how I will be useful during this time. So many have been on it in terms of how we do virtual learning, programs, etc. and it has been inspiring to see. I have been diving into some of my favorite authors and thinking about how this applies to leadership and the teams we work with. As things have started to give us a glimmer of hope that we will be able to leave our homes safely at some point in the future, I got to thinking……
How are we, as leaders, going to ensure that our staff, our teams, our family, transition back into this world (probably new and strange for a while) as a high functioning, productive, and inspired team?
I have heard from a few people already that their leaders, teams, etc. are having a hard time with this concept of going back to normal. That is gone and we need to confront it and accept it. I look at it as an opportunity. Is this the time to rearrange your teams to be better functioning? Have you been longing to rebuild the relationships of your company? Do you need to reset and find your Why?
Seeing this weird time as an opportunity will help us to thrive and be better. Most of us want to contribute to the greater good and help others. Now is the time. Let’s make our teams successful, passionate, productive, and inspired.
I hope you are well. I have some more thoughts about how we can help our teams to come out swinging and stronger than ever. I will post again soon. We got this. Let me know if you need help. I got you.
